What are Chakras?

Chakras are energy centres in the body. They cannot be seen by the eye human eye, but have been clairvoyantly described as swirling wheels on the body that have different colours. The word Chakra is Sanskrit for disc or wheel. They are centres of activity that receives, assimilates and expresses life force energy. They are responsible for the person's physical, mental, and spiritual functions. The chakras absorb and transmit energies to and from the universe.

There are thousands of chakras but only 40 of them have significant function. There are 7 major chakras located in the head and torso and they run along the central line of the body and many minor chakras located in the hands, feet, fingertips, and shoulders. They are located in the ethereal body and they express the embodiment of spiritual energy on the physical plane.
